Sanders Pulsed Power, LLC
Founded in 2017 in Batavia, Illinois to provide engineering services, systems and components to the pulse power community including Fermi National Accelerator Laboratory, also in Batavia, Illinois, and many private companies in the industrial and medical fields. Moved to the Innovation Park at Notre Dame in 2021 to expanded facilities, including private laboratory, electronics assembly and testing space. Since then we have added new customers like Brookhaven National Laboratory, Los Alamos National Laboratory, Oak Ridge National Laboratory and other private companies in the industrial and medical fields as well as forged cooperative arrangements with other facilities at Notre Dame including the Notre Dame Nanofabrication Facility, Innovation Lab, and Physics Machine Shop.
Howard Sanders
Owner
Howard Sanders graduated from Cornell University with bachelor and masters degrees in Engineering Physics. He is a co-inventor on four patents, three of which are on packaging and triggering of compact high voltage solid state switches. He has been primary investigator on one DoD and the primary experimentalist on three DoE funded SBIR phase II projects. Other design and experimental work include the 1MA, 1MV COBRA accelerator built for Cornell University and the A durable, repetitively pulsed, 200 kV, 4.5 kA, 300 ns solid state pulsed power system at the Laser Plasma Branch of the Naval Research Laboratory. One of his latest projects was the Muon G-2 Elecrtostatic Quadrupole drivers at FNAL. His publications include Laser Pumping of 5kV Silicon Thyristors, which he presented at the Pulsed Power Conference in 2011; Multi-Million Pulse Solid State Marx, which he presented at the Power Modulator Conference in 2008; High Power Solid State Switch Module, which he presented at the Power Modulator Conference in 2004; Inductive Plasma Ion Source for Heavy Ion Accelerators, which he presented at the APS Department of Plasma Physics Conference in 2003; and COBRA High Current Generator Baseline Design prepared for Cornell University. He also worked at Silicon Power Corporation, Applied Pulsed Power Inc., Porous Materials Inc. and Oak Ridge National Laboratory before starting Sanders Pulsed Power LLC. He has been a member of IEEE since 2008 and is on the technical committee of the International Power Modulator and High Voltage Conference.
